Tree Milling Service Wirral

Converting felled timber into usable planks and beams - perfect for furniture, flooring, and bespoke projects.

What Is Tree Milling - and What Does It Involve?

WK Arboriculture offers an on-site tree milling service that transforms felled timber into sawn planks, beams, and slices - turning what would otherwise be chipped and wasted into beautiful, usable material for furniture, flooring, joinery, and garden projects. It is sustainable, cost-effective, and produces character wood with grain, figuring, and features that simply cannot be replicated by commercially grown timber. When a tree on your property needs to come down, the on-site milling service means its character and history lives on in something tangible and lasting.

We use professional milling equipment that can process trees directly on your property, minimising transport and waste. The resulting timber - whether oak, ash, elm, cherry, or another species - can be used for garden furniture, internal shelving and tables, flooring, cladding, gate posts, raised beds, and much more.

Green timber (freshly milled) needs time to season and dry before use in most applications. We advise on appropriate drying times and storage for your specific timber and intended use. We can also refer you to local kiln-drying services for faster preparation of your timber.

Our rustic furniture range is made entirely from locally milled Wirral timber - if you have a tree that needs to come down, we can turn it into something beautiful and lasting that keeps the character of your specific tree alive for generations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which tree species can be milled?
Most hardwoods make excellent milled timber - oak, ash, elm, cherry, walnut, and sycamore are particularly good. Some softwoods can also be milled. We advise on suitability when we quote for felling.
How long does timber need to dry before use?
Green timber typically needs one year of air-drying per 25mm of thickness as a rough guide. Kiln drying is much faster. We advise on appropriate drying times and can refer you to local kiln-drying services.
Can you make furniture from my felled tree?
Yes. We offer bespoke rustic furniture commissions from timber milled from trees on your own property or locally sourced. Contact us to discuss your project - every piece is unique.
